The Google India Women in Engineering Award

In striving towards GOOGLE mission to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful, Google, aspires to build a workforce that is as diverse their user base. It is this diversity of perspectives, ideas and cultures that leads to the creation of better products and services. 

The Google India Women in Engineering Award was instituted by GOOGLE in 2008 to recognize and reward deserving women students in Computer Science and related majors, and inspire them to become active participants and leaders in creating technology. GOOGLE had 8 award recipients in 2010, 9 in 2009 and 16 in 2008.


With a successful run behind GOOGLE is pleased to announce the Google India Women in Engineering Award 2011. In the fourth edition of the award, GOOGLE continues its efforts towards encouraging and inspiring women in the field of engineering to achieve GOOGLE goal of diversity.


Women engineering students will be awarded based on their excellence in academia, passion for technology and demonstrated leadership. They will be chosen from across bachelor's, master's and PhD programs. The award winners will each receive a sum of INR 1,00,000.


Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must:
  • Be enrolled as a full time student in a recognized Indian institution.
  • Be in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related majors.
  • Maintain a cumulative CGPA of at least 4.0 on a 5.0 scale, 8.0 on a 10.0 scale (or equivalent), or be in the top 10 percentile of their college in the current program.
  • Be enrolled in Bachelor's/ Integrated MSc/ Dual Degree MTech (3rd year onwards) or Master's or PhD (all years).

Interested candidates can apply between September 15th and October 31st only.
